The Social Agreement

We can all agree...

that there are certain things people do on social networking sites that irritate us, so let's also agree to list those things, and y'know... not do them anymore. We'll start with these:

I will not use the phrase: "gearing up for the weekend" at any time, even if the intent is irony.

I will not post updates corresponding with each thought I have in my head as I think it.

When using a full-size keyboard, I will use full-size words.

I will not feed the troll, as I know the difference between feeding the troll, and becoming the troll, is razor thin.

I will do my best to be a real person, and not just a billboard of myself.

I will not post "rofl" without providing photographic proof that I am actually rolling on the floor... and laughing.

I will not demand my friends "wake up!" to whatever conspiracy theory, disaster, or social ill I'm currently interested in.

I will not flash gang symbols unless I am actually in a gang, and am attempting to incite a "rumble".

I will not start, nor become involved in, flame wars about cell phones or operating systems.

I will not combat people with differing religious, nor political, affiliations without well reasoned, measured responses.
